Four appliances, one city, no branch office

This is an independent service working on Viking equipment in Cambridge. Ranges and wall ovens are the bulk of it, refrigeration and dishwashers the rest. That is the entire book, and the narrowness is the point.

A technician who sees the same four platforms every week recognises a fault pattern before a meter comes out of the bag. The gas work in particular rewards it: pressure, spark, flame sense and burner geometry behave in ways that are learned by repetition and not by reading.

01 How a call runs

Three steps, and the price arrives before the spanner

  1. 01

    The plate and the symptom

Model and serial from the rating plate, plus what the appliance is doing. On a range the plate is usually behind the kick panel or inside the oven door frame. Half the diagnosis happens on the phone.

  2. 02

    Readings, in the kitchen

Manifold pressure on a gas call, spark and flame-sense at each burner, element and sensor resistance in an oven, pump and valve behaviour on a dishwasher. Written down as numbers.

  3. 03

    The price, before the dismantling

Parts and labour as one figure with the $95 already taken off. If the appliance is not worth the repair, that is said plainly and the visit ends there.

02 Scope

What this is

  • Viking cooking appliances and Viking refrigeration and dishwashers — the four pages on this site are the whole of the book
  • Gas work carried out to Massachusetts code, with manifold pressure recorded on every gas call
  • Factory-approved parts fitted where the platform calls for them
  • Independent of the manufacturer, with no affiliation to it of any kind
  • No contact form and no email: the phone and the booking page, and nothing else
